confessions of blogger

Today am letting you in on my roller coaster of a ride called blogging.  It’s been quite the thrill but so rewarding. This morning I thought of sharing my journey with you and giving you a peek of my life.

I started this blog (cozyzen) 7 months ago. This was not my first interior decor blog, about 2 years ago I started a blog called spacesbysharon but was so distracted with other things that I decided to shut it down. Last year I started another blog called sweetlifeinteriors which I was really excited about but after some domain name issues I changed it to Cozyzen.

I don’t have any major online presence aside from the usual Instagram, Twitter and Facebook accounts.

I am always scared to go back and look at my first post. I remember I didn’t really have a clear vision of what I was doing when I started this blog. I sounded mostly like I was preaching ideas down peoples throats and since then I have been working on finding my blogging voice. This was my first post.

When I first started I thought blogging was easy and all I had to do was sit in front of a computer and fill my online “diary” with fun ideas. I was far from the truth, it was not long before I started paying for my domain, server hosting, photographer, decor items and putting it all together. Honestly it takes hours of hard work, traveling to different stores just to find what I need for a post. After sometime it dawned on me how much time and effort I had put into my blog and that is when I knew I was on a trip with a one way ticket.

My biggest challenge has been sticking to a schedule, I have those days when just want to do nothing. Other times I just can’t figure what to blog about, simply because of writers block. I am learning to only blog when am feeling inspired. The theory that like attracts like really works, when I put out work that I really love and enjoy, people always respond positively.

I always go by the idea that, if you think it you can be it. I have seen myself grow a lot since I started and never thought I would come this far. I believe that this blog will grow and be a place where people can come and not only find great ideas to spruce up their homes but also feel inspired and loved.

Getting to know and meet people who share the same passion and love for decorating like I do. I also love that blogging has pushed me out of my comfort zone and made me aware of my talents which were hidden for so long. I wasted so much time doing things that I didn’t really enjoy, chasing dreams that were not meant for me.

I felt discouraged so often when I started blogging. No one read my blog, I didn’t know how to get people to read it. My traffic was seriously low and that was pretty tough but I stuck it through, did a lot of research and now I am feeling good about my progress.

Did you enjoy reading this tag? What questions would you love answered?

This was a very enjoyable read! You can tell you put a lot of thought and time into your blog, and I’m glad you’re seeing progress in the areas you’re working on! I love interior decorating, but I’m so terrible at it – so I do enjoy your posts a lot! Maybe in the future, you can create your own virtual design services! :)

If you can do all this in 7 months, then I get you can keep going. Well done.

About scheduling, with time you’d find your most comfortable pace. Take it slow, don’t force it.

You’re right, am slowly finding my comfy pace. Thanks for reading!

Great article, yes blogging is a lot of work and does cost time and money. I love the point about blogging when you feel inspired. I blog consistenly but there are times when things come up or I am working on another urgent project . I have learnt to be ok with not writing a post and then just do it when I have finished the urgent project and feeling inspired as you said. I have had to tell myself that It is not about quantity but about quality.
